Enough that I would get snow that came inside and it wouldn't melt for days. Upon examination of the dryer vent, both from outside and the crawlspace, I found it wasn't sealed at all. I sprayed some foam.

1. If the wall is non-load bearing, you may not need to do anything. If the wall is loadbearing, you should probably not do this at all, or you should exit the cavity space through a side, not through the top. It would be a heck of a lot easier to do with the wall open. I would in general prefer a vent that only goes directly through the wall.

In our remodel process, we need to vent a dryer up through an interior 2x4 wall, 16 on center, up through the ceiling. Upstairs is attic space, we will vent from here to the outside. Does anyone know what we need to transition from the 4" round dryer exhaust, via the 2x4 wall?

Dryer vent pipe is 4" in diamenter, which is still too wide to go through a 2x4 interior wall. It has to be squished a little to get through the studs. Step 2 Diagram.. Where we've stubbed out the dryer vent to the outside wall, the pipe has the crimped end out. So we have to cut the crimped end off. Much better, no lint magnet.
